The Fairgrounds, home of the Erie County Fair, will host the sixth annual WNY Farm Show Feb. 4-6. The event is hosted by the Erie County Agricultural Society, which continuously looks for ways to promote agriculture and education within the community it serves.

Taking place in two heated buildings, the WNY Farm Show works to bring together the farming population and the services necessary for daily operation. Vendors for this year's show include feed, seed and equipment dealers, farm service provider, and various agriculture nonprofits and agencies.

The 2016 WNY Farm Show will debut the "Farmer Elite Toss," a hay bale-throwing competition that is open to the public. Guests can try and toss hay bale the farthest to try and win cash prizes and gift certificates from Joe Basil Chevrolet Commercial Trucks. Participants can sign up beginning at 12:30 p.m. daily inside the Showplex.

The Harvest Theater, inside the Agriculture Discovery Center, will host a variety of workshops and seminars. The WNY Farm Show will host pesticide re-certification courses twice daily. Each session will feature a different topic and is free to the public. Space, however, is limited. These courses are an opportunity to earn spray credits prior to the 2016 growing season.

At 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, there will be a mechanics competition open to high school students. Six stations will test the competitor's knowledge of the assembly, tools and skills required to maintain and repair equipment. This is the first time the Farm Show has hosted an event of this kind.

In addition to vendors and seminars, the WNY Farm Show offers fun for children, as well. Inside the Agriculture Discovery Center, kids will be treated to free "Ag-tivities." Concessions will also be available throughout the show.

The WNY Farm Show will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday.

Guests may enter the Hamburg Fairgrounds via McKinley Parkway at the gate closest to Quinby Drive. Those travelling with a GPS should use the address "5600 McKinley Parkway, Hamburg, NY 14075." The WNY Farm Show is located just 20 minutes south of Buffalo.
