Applications accepted until Jan. 31

Today, various Western New York entrepreneurial ecosystem leaders announced applications are now open for the Launch Pad PITCH competition in New Orleans. Three Buffalo startups will be selected to compete in the competition.

Launch Pad PITCH is a new element of Collision, an international tech conference in New Orleans, to be held April 26-28. The following cities will be represented in the competition:

  • Buffalo
  • Charleston, South Carolina
  • Nashville
  • New Orleans
  • Pittsburgh
  • Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina
  • San Antonio

The Launch Pad PITCH competition serves as a preliminary round of the larger Collision PITCH competition. Four companies from Launch Pad PITCH will advance to the semifinals of the Collision PITCH competition, with a chance to present in front of more than 10,000 attendees, including hundreds of investors, and a chance to be named Best Startup at Collision.

Applications to represent Buffalo in the competition are open until Jan. 31. The selected startups will be announced in March.

The competition's Buffalo committee consists of representatives from 43North, Launch NY, Buffalo Niagara Enterprise, the University at Buffalo, Z80 Labs, the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, WNY Incubator Network and several other organizations.

"Buffalo's startup ecosystem is on the rise - and we have a chance to prove it at Launch Pad PITCH," said John T. Gavigan, the competition's city leader for Buffalo and executive director of 43North. "I encourage our entrepreneurs to seize this opportunity and submit their business ideas by Jan. 31 for the chance to represent our community at Collision."
