Readers are invited to continue holiday season festivities at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, Dec. 10, with Grand Island High School's annual winter concert. Come listen to the sounds of the season from the choral groups, orchestral groups and concert band, plus the traditional performance of "Sleigh Ride" by the wind ensemble conducted by "to be determined" (from the guest conductor raffle).

Come early to get a head start on your holiday cookies and your chance at conducting. Make your own selections from dozens of trays of delicious and colorful homemade cookies, available by the plate (one dozen for $5) or snack size (two for $1).

This year, along with the annual cookie sale, guests have the opportunity to conduct Grand Island's very own wind ensemble as it plays Leroy Anderson's traditional "Sleigh Ride" at the holiday concert. Chances will be available to purchase. The guest conductor will work with his or her very own baton.

Buy one chance for $1, six chances for 5$, 13 for $10 or 30 for $20.

The concert and cookie sale will be held in the newly renovated Grand Viking Theatre. All proceeds from this event will go toward the Grand Island music boosters, who continue to support the district's music program.
