Sigurd Schafer entered into rest Oct. 9, 2015.
A resident of Grand Island, Mr. Schafer was a retiree of General Motors in Tonawanda.
He was the beloved husband and best friend of Patricia (Eimer) Schafer. He was the father of Sidney (Judy) Schafer, Constance (Tim) Collins and Katherine D. (Rob) Snider; grandfather of Brandy Schafer, Timothy and Samuel Collins; brother of Ingrid Buchert; and uncle of Michael (Gloria) Buchert.
Visitation and funeral services were held Sunday and Monday at the Kaiser Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Buffalo Zoo or the SPCA Serving Buffalo and Erie County.
