Nearly 200 participated in the seventh annual Jonathon Cote Memorial Motorcycle Ride & Fundraiser, held in Erie and Niagara counties Aug. 2. It is presented each year in memory of Cote, a U.S. Army veteran. He served in Middle East conflicts in the early 2000s and returned as a contractor to Iraq only to be held captive and later killed in 2008.
The run went from Williamsville North High School in Amherst to De La Casa Mexican Restaurant in Lewiston. It was sponsored by De La Casa Mexican Restaurant, Mombrea Brothers Band, Cyberspokes.com, NY-Biker.com and WNY Heroes Inc.
In addition to the ride, the afternoon event featured live music, food, drinks, prize basket raffles, 50/50 raffles and silent auctions.
Proceeds go toward an annual scholarship established for a Williamsville North High School student in Cote's memory and to the programs of WNY Heroes Inc. (Photos by Kevin and Dawn Cobello of K&D Aerial Imaging; see more in our gallery)
