Grand Island Memorial Library: Books to Bike winners announced

The Grand Island Memorial Library has announced the winners of its Books to Bike contest.

Jenna Hecht won the girl's bike and Brent Lesser won the boy's bike. The contest took place between July 1 and Aug. 15. Children received an entry ticket for every five books checked out.

According to Anne Slater, youth services librarian at Grand Island Memorial Library, there were 931 entries in the contest, which means that more than 4,655 books were read by children at the library this summer.

The library thanked the Friends of the Grand Island Memorial Library, who purchased the bikes for the reading program.
