Parking details for the 2015 Thunder of Niagara Air Show slated for July 18-19 have been finalized.

Gates will open at 9 a.m. both days with free parking available at the air base. Base officials anticipate large numbers of spectators to attend this free event.

In anticipation of large crowds, two satellite parking locations with shuttle service to and from the base will be provided to help reduce traffic on the main roads adjacent to the base. Both parking and shuttle service at these locations are free.

The two satellite lots are the Vantage Business Park on Inducon Drive off Lockport Road east of the base, and NFTA Lot No. 3 located on Niagara Falls Boulevard (across from the Bell Aircraft Plant) to the south of the base. The access for NFTA Lot No. 3 is via the Cayuga Drive Extension entrance.

The Niagara County SPCA also will have parking spots available for a small donation, which will directly benefit the SPCA. The agency is located right next to the main gate on Lockport Road. Tickets are available pre-sale through the SPCA website or available each day of the event.

In addition, there may be other businesses surrounding the base that will offer off-base parking for a small donation.

Vehicle gate access for on-base parking is as follows: General admission vehicles will use the Walmore Road and Tuscarora Road gates. Motorcycles should enter through either the Walmore Road or Lockport Road gates with hardened parking provided. Handicapped parking with valid permit will be available on-base, and entry will be through the Lockport Road entrance gate.

Residents and travelers should be advised Walmore Road adjacent to the base will be closed to vehicle traffic from 1:30-3:15 p.m. Friday, July 17, and Saturday, July 18, as well as 3-4:45 p.m. Sunday, July 19, while the USAF Thunderbirds perform.
