Muriel Forte and Brenda Dix Ferrell were among Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center employees who were recently honored for their hard work and dedication during the medical center's annual service awards event.

Forte, who was recognized for 50 years of service, has enjoyed a career as a registered nurse, diabetic teaching nurse and diabetes educator. She has been recognized regionally and nationally by her peers as a nurse of distinction and is a retired United States Air Force Reserve officer who saw active duty during Desert Storm in 1991.

Ferrell is celebrating her 45th anniversary at the medical center. She began her career in 1970 as a dietary attendant and has gone on to serve in the capacities of dietary aide, dietetic specialist and dietary clerk.

The annual service awards ceremony recognizes employees who are celebrating service milestones ranging from five to 50 years. This year's event honored 152 employees for a combined 2,595 years of service to Memorial Medical Center and the community.
