In addition to his duties as Lewiston town supervisor, Dennis Brochey also serves as founder and director of a yearly fundraiser known as the Red Brick Bench Press Championship.

The annual event, which started in 2004, is held every February with all benefits going to military troops and their families.

Brochey recently received a check from the Lewiston Niagara-on-the-Lake Rotary Club that helped bring this year's total to $11,179.77.

Funds raised at this year's event went to the Friends of Family Support Association of the Niagara Air Reserve Station.

Brochey reports that, to date, this brings the total raised since 2004 to more than $112,000 with an additional $10,000 raised in 2014 to assist in building the Iraq/Afghanistan Memorial at the Buffalo Naval Park.
