The Niagara County Peach Queen Program is looking forward to Sept. 13, when the 2015-16 Peach Queen will be crowned and will receive a generous $4,000 scholarship from the Kiwanis Club of Lewiston. The amount has nearly doubled from the scholarship amount last year's recipient won.

In addition, the runners-up also will receive scholarship amounts, with funds raised from past Peach Queen contestants and local business support.

Applications are now available online at www.lewistonkiwanis.org. The Niagara County Peach Festival will take place in Lewiston Sept. 11-13.

In order to be eligible for the program, contestants must be single female Niagara County residents ages 17-21 (age 17 by Sept. 13). Events are scheduled throughout the end of July and through the month of August. A full listing of contestant events will be sent to the contestants upon receiving their respective applications.

The Peach Queen program is a community-service-oriented program for young women. The event's goal is to introduce the importance of community service to young women while they meet others in a fun setting.

The Peach Queen Committee is currently updating the Peach Queen database and is asking former Peach Queens to send updated contact information to [email protected] or call Jennifer at 716-940-1063. Contestants with questions and businesses that would like to donate items also are asked to contact the committee.
