Scouts, students clean up

Boy Scout Troop 833 and members of New York Adventures in Homeschooling participated in two cleanups in Wheatfield Saturday.

The Scouts picked up litter along the roadside during the 24th annual Liberty Drive Cleanup, coordinated by Councilman Larry Helwig.

Just a little way's away, homeschool group volunteers cleaned the Colvin Boulevard Extension, between Williams Road and 102nd Street, in a project coordinated by Supervisor Bob Cliffe.

After a hard day's work, the volunteers enjoyed donuts provided by Cliffe and refreshments from Frontier Volunteer Fire Co. Highway Superintendent Paul Seigmann provided a pickup truck to load the all the trash.

In attendance for Liberty Drive Cleanup were Assistant Scout Master Matt Evans, Eagle Scouts John Evans, Dan Greaser and Brandon Blatz, AnnMarie and Anthony Micoli, Nathan and Bruce Guldin, Evan and Nick Hanel, Rich Leidolf, Caleb Evans, Alex Leidolf, Levi Siegmann, Beth Greaser and Bob Blatz.

The volunteers for the Colvin cleanup were Leslie, Piper and LaFayette Penny and Niamh and Carreen Schroeder.

At the end of the day, the Highway Department picked up two truckloads of trash off Liberty Drive and 20-odd bags off Colvin.
