Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue in North Tonawanda this weekend

Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue will be present with adoptable dogs from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. this Saturday, May 2, at Budwey's Supermarket, 535 Division St., North Tonawanda. On Sunday, from noon to 3 p.m., volunteers will be at Colton RV's spring open house, 3122 Niagara Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda. Meet adoptable dogs Beethoven, Boston, Dreyfus (Saturday only), Ellie, Hope (Sunday only), Jazzy (Sunday only), Phil and Romeo.

The public is invited to come and meet these animals and to find out more about the adoption process, animal care and upcoming meetings and events, including the second annual summer picnic coming up in July.

Heart of Niagara is a not-for-profit companion animal rescue organization based in Niagara County. Its mission is to protect the health and welfare of abandoned, unwanted and homeless animals. As of earlier this month, the rescue has adopted out 300 animals. HON operates solely on donations and the generosity and support of the public.

Donations of Purina One and Science Diet dog food will be gratefully accepted at all events and meetings.

The next volunteer meeting is 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, 505 Cayuga St. Volunteer meetings are open to the public, and new volunteers are always welcome.
