Youngstown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 313 will distribute buddy poppies from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this weekend at Melloni's Marketplace, 200 Lockport St.

The VFW, in 1923, was the first veteran organization to nationally distribute poppies assembled by disabled and hospitalized veterans. The Poppy movement was inspired by the poem "In Flanders Fields" and voluntary contributions collected are used to assist and support local veterans and their families.

VFW Post 313 will also hold a Veterans Day ceremony at Youngstown's Veterans Park at 11 a.m. Nov. 11. A reception and open house will be held at the Post, 434 Third St., immediately following the ceremony. For more information, contact Lance at 716-745-7524.
