The Niagara Regional Theatre Guild will present the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical "Guys and Dolls" at the Ellicott Creek Playhouse Sept. 26 through Oct. 12.
A classic of Broadway theater, winner of a Tony Award and a Pulitzer Prize Music Award, "Guys and Dolls" has music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and is based on the book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. In the hustle and bustle of New York City, gamblers, dancers, gangsters, and do-gooders convene in a story of high stakes, long engagements, and love found in the wrong places. Among many songs are "I'll Know," "Luck Be a Lady," "I've Never Been In Love Before," "Sue Me," "Marry the Man Today," and "Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat."
"Guys and Dolls" is directed by Kim Ehrenburg of Buffalo, choreographed by Dawn Marcolini Newton of Grand Island, with musical direction by Christina Custode of Niagara Falls. Starring from Grand Island is Alaina Kulikowski as "Gen. Cartwright." The production stars Chris Turton, Sarah Blewett, John Panepinto, Jennie McCabe and Dan Zerpa.
An opening night reception including refreshments and a "meet the cast and crew" will be held in the theater lobby immediately following the opening night performance. Other performances, the cast and crew may also be greeting patrons after each show.
Performances will be Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. A dinner theater package is available Sunday, Sept. 28.
