The Buffalo Zoo is the new permanent home to two bald eagles after Congressman Chris Collins convinced the federal government to keep the birds in Western New York.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service had planned to move the eagles to a facility in the Boston area, despite the Buffalo Zoo's eagerness to make a permanent home for the birds in its new Arctic Edge exhibit.

After being injured in separate accidents in Western New York, the eagles were being treated at a rehabilitation center in Orleans County and were unable to be released back into the wild.
