The 2014 Niagara County Fair will kick-off July 30 at 8 a.m. with the popular Farm City Breakfast, sponsored again this year by Niagara County Community College. This hearty breakfast, served under the large food tent on the fairgrounds, will include sausages, eggs, hash browns, sweet rolls, Welches juice, milk and coffee served family style.

Volunteer servers from RealtyUSA will help out this year. The breakfast will "go green" again by using compostable paper products and utensils.

More than 500 people enjoyed the 2013 breakfast. Tickets for 2014 may be purchased for $7 at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County administration office located at 4487 Lake Ave., Lockport, or the day of the breakfast.

The theme for this year's fair is "A Good Thing Growing - Celebrating Niagara County Agriculture." Earlier this year, CCE held its annual fair logo contest, open to Niagara County youth age 5 to 19 years. The winner, Matthew McAuley of Lockport, pictured, will be awarded his $100 prize during the breakfast. He is a 15-year-old sophomore at St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute.

The other top 10 entrants of the contest will also be recognized during the Farm City Breakfast, and all the submitted logos will be displayed during the fair.

The Niagara County Fair will run from July 30 through Aug. 3. The event includes new entertainment, food, 4-H animal and other exhibits, local vendors and much more - all in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Net proceeds from the fair support CCE-Niagara County programming that benefits children and families of Niagara County. This year, Niagara's Choice Credit Union, Niagara County Community College and Cornerstone FCU sponsor the fair. For more information and updates, visit www.cceniagaracounty.org.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County is a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt organization.
