Bariatric and minimally invasive specialty surgeon to join Memorial Medical Center staff

Vikram Reddy Vattipally, M.D., M.S., M.R.C.S., is the newest addition to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center's team of surgeons.

American Board certified in general surgery, Vattipally provides a full spectrum of minimally invasive and acute care general surgery procedures. He recently completed his fellowship at Penn State University's Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in advanced laparoscopic/bariatric surgery.

Vattipally's specialty interests in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery, including robotics, will expand Memorial's growing bariatric and robotic surgery capacity. His bariatric surgery procedures include laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy and minimally invasive/robotic surgery procedures, including foregut (upper gastro-intestinal) surgeries, single site cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal), and abdominal wall hernia repairs, including complex hernias.

Vattipally has widely published in many peer-reviewed surgical journals on an array of topics. He has presented at many international scientific meetings. He was selected as Outstanding Resident of the year for 2013 by The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and Best Resident Teacher in 2012-13 at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in New York.

A graduate of Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India, he completed surgical residencies in the U.S., U.K. and India. He is certified in general surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, U.K., and NTR University of Health Sciences, Andhra Pradesh, India.
