Historical Association of Lewiston's annual celebration slated for June 14

Once a year, Lewiston enthusiasts get together to celebrate achievements and to honor the people and organizations that make Lewiston a premiere community in Western New York. Top volunteers and benefactors who preserve and promote Lewiston's rich heritage are honored at this event, the Historical Association of Lewiston's annual celebration.

This year, HAL organizers are switching venues to the Niagara Frontier Country Club, 1058 Lake Road, Youngstown. The June 14 event includes a buffet menu and an extensive basket raffle. Everyone is invited to attend. The evening begins at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $35 per person. Reservations can be made by calling Pam at the Lewiston Museum at 716-754-4214.

Awards this year to be presented include: D. George Vanderhoek (Trustee of the Year) to Steve Frey; Benjamin Barton Award (Outstanding Contribution) to the Townsend Family; Reuben Lewis Award (1812 Bicentennial Commemoration) to John Stewart and Susan Geissler; Josiah Tryon (Volunteer of the Year) to Bruce Sutherland; Nelson Cornell (Tour of Homes) to Mary Ann Aranyosi; Calvin Hotchkiss (Business of the Year) to The Lewiston Village Pub; and The Friend of History Award to Village of Lewiston Clerk Anne Welch.

The Niagara Frontier Country Club has offered a substantial discount for attendees who wish to play a round of golf prior to the dinner. A cart, green fees and unlimited use of the driving range are available for $50 per person.
