Convenience store robbed in Wheatfield

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office is investigating a robbery that occurred in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 9, at the 7-11, 6955 Ward Road, Wheatfield.

At 2:22 a.m., a 911 call was received from the clerk at the 7-11, reporting that he had just been robbed. Units arriving at the scene reported that the suspect, a white male, 5 feet 8 inches or 5 feet 9 inches tall, approximately 175 pounds, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and gray sneakers, fled the scene on foot, southbound on Ward Road. The suspect threatened the use of a firearm and demanded cash from the cash register, but no gun was displayed.

A Niagara County K-9 was called to the scene in an effort to track the suspect. The Niagara County Crime Scene Identification Unit and Criminal Investigation Bureau also responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken during the robbery. The Criminal Investigation Bureau is continuing the investigation into the robbery.
