Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-C-I-Lewiston, is highlighting increased funding in the state budget for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority. Ceretto helped secure $46.2 million for the NFTA, a $1.3 million increase from last year. This is funding Ceretto called for in February while the budget was still being negotiated. He worked with Gov. Andrew Cuomo to make sure this increase was included in the final budget.
"I thank Gov. Cuomo for his partnership in making sure Western New Yorkers have access to a quality public transportation system," Ceretto said. "When the NFTA came to me in February describing their funding needs, I took their message to Gov. Cuomo and we worked together deliver this increase.
"Providing a quality public transportation system is a basic function of our government, and I am proud to help make it a reality."
The NFTA serves the largest metropolitan area in upstate New York and operates both operate a light rail system and well as two airports.
