The International Association of Administrative Professionals is teaming up with Schichtel's Nursery Oregon to host the 2014 Arbor Day tree fundraiser this spring. Proceeds will benefit the IAAP Buffalo Chapter. Various trees and shrubs will be available to order through April 18, and will be available for pick-up at The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls, 101 Old Falls St., from noon to 8 p.m. May 2. Trees are $90 each and shrubs are $45 each.

In addition to the tree sale, a barbecue dinner will be served at The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls the evening of May 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. Preorders for the dinner are necessary and are $25 per person. Guests do not have to purchase trees in order to preorder the barbecue dinner.

"After the long winter Western New Yorkers have endured, many of us have thoughts of spring," said Christopher Schichtel, IAAP fundraising chairperson and a sales manager at The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls. "This event allows everyone to liven up their landscaping, while helping IAAP's Buffalo Chapter reach its fundraising goals."

For those who want to participate in the fundraiser, but would rather donate the trees or shrubs purchased, IAAP has identified the Niagara Beautification Commission and Grassroots Gardens of Buffalo as benefactors. The Niagara Beautification Commission promotes the beautification of Niagara Falls by mobilizing volunteer resources and inspiring pride in the community. Grassroots Gardens of Buffalo is devoted to helping people create and sustain community gardens on vacant lots in Buffalo. For more information on how to make a donation, contact Schichtel at [email protected] or call 716-278-2123. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

Contact Schichtel to obtain a preorder form to purchase trees, shrubs or admission to the barbecue dinner.
