Sunnking Inc., in partnership with Camp Good Days and Special Times, has created a program called "E-Scrap 4 Camp." This program facilitates the recycling of old electronics from participating local businesses to generate funds for Camp Good Days and Special Times.

2014 marks the fourth E-Scrap 4 Camp fundraising campaign. In the first three years, a total of 991,006 lbs. of electronics were collected and recycled, resulting in more than $30,000 donated to Camp Good Days on behalf of Sunnking.

For the month of April, Sunnking will provide free electronics recycling supplies and pick-ups at participating schools, businesses, nonprofits and other organizations in the Buffalo and Rochester area. Organizations are encouraged to collect old and unwanted electronics from employees, friends and family. Sunnking will donate money to Camp Good Days for every pound of electronics recycled.

To register your organization, visit www.sunnking.com/escrap-4-camp. The deadline to sign up is March 21.

There will be an electronics recycling kickoff event open to the public on March 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Camp Good Days office, 6430 Transit Road, Depew (LoVullo Business Plaza across from Salvatore's Italian Gardens); and a second event March 8 in Rochester.

Residents can drop off electronics for recycling at no cost. The Sunnking staff/volunteers will be available to unload vehicles.

"We are excited to be a part of this unique fundraising event once again this year," said Gary Mervis, chairman and founder of Camp Good Days. "This program has had great success in the first three years, and we anticipate similar support and success again this year.

"All of the programs and services we provide, for so many children and families dealing with cancer, are offered free of charge for the participants. We are only able to continue this because of the generous support from so many individuals and organizations, like Sunnking Inc., and the success of special fundraising events and activities like E-Scrap 4 Camp."

How It Works

•Each participating location will have the opportunity to collect electronics from employees, friends and family for one week during the month of April (collection week will be determined by geographic location).

•Collection boxes and pallets will be provided by Sunnking the week prior to each location's scheduled collection at no cost (box dimensions are approximately 48-inches-by-40-inches-by-48-inches. Boxes sit on top of a standard pallet).

•Electronics will be picked up by Sunnking the week after the scheduled collection week and recycled at no cost.

•Sunnking will track and record the net weight of electronics recycled from each participating location and will provide a report and certificate of donation at the end of the campaign.

•At the end of the campaign, Sunnking will donate money to Camp Good Days for every pound of electronics recycled.

•The participating location with the most electronics collected (by weight) will win $500 worth of refurbished computer equipment from Sunnking.

•For a list of materials that can be recycled, visit www.sunnking.com/acceptable-materials.

About Camp Good Days and Special Times

Camp Good Days, a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children, adults and families whose lives have been touched by cancer and other life-threatening challenges, was founded by Mervis in 1979, following the diagnosis of his youngest daughter, Teddi, with a malignant brain tumor. What was started to provide Teddi and 62 other children with cancer (21 from Rochester, 21 from Buffalo, 21 from Syracuse) with a residential camping experience, has grown to become one of the largest organizations of its kind, having served as model for other organizations and cancer treatment centers around the world. Providing residential camping programs and year-round recreational and support activities and events, Camp Good Days has served more than 43,000 campers from 22 states and 28 foreign countries.
