Congressman Brian Higgins is encouraging Western New Yorkers to take part in the Federal Communication Commission public comment period for the proposed repeal of blackout rules.

"NFL blackout policies are outdated, unfair, and alienate fans," Higgins said. "I encourage Western New York sports fans to write in and let their voices be heard with the FCC."

In December of last year, the FCC issued a report, which contained a proposal to eliminate blackout rules.

Higgins has been a vocal opponent of the blackout policies, calling on the FCC and NFL to end blackouts, and team up with local fans to advocate for repeal.
