The Lewiston Council on the Arts recently received notification of its award of decentralization grant funding in support of two projects.

•"Lewiston Arts Café." The LCA and Just Buffalo Literary Center will partner to launch a new regional poetry and music event in Niagara County. The "Lewiston Arts Café" will feature some of the finest poets and musicians in Western New York presented in a 1960s coffee house tradition. Programs begin at 7 p.m. every other month at the Lewiston Opera Hall, 732 Center St., beginning Feb. 11.

•An afternoon of "Alice in Wonderland"-themed events will take place Sunday, June 1, at Seneca (Bug) Park, near the Lewiston Public Library. The Motus O Dance Theatre from Toronto will perform "Alice," an adaptation of Lewis Carroll's whimsical stories "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through The Looking Glass."

The Lewiston-Porter High School Drama Club will get into the act when students bring their costumed "Alice in Wonderland" characters to read, sing and dance for children as they participate in a real, live tea party.

LCA programs are funded by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, administered by Arts Services Initiative of Western New York.
