Meals on Wheels Foundation of Western New York is the recipient of a $1,000 donation through Compu-Mail's "Charity Connection" program. The organization was selected from numerous online nominations made by Compu-Mail's clients and associates throughout last fall.

Shandra Holt, a Compu-Mail client from a local agency, nominated Meals on Wheels, writing, "As our local 'Baby Boomers' age, the need for Meals on Wheels' services is outpacing funding and volunteer services. By supporting Meals on Wheels of WNY, Compu-Mail will help to nourish both the bodies and souls of our homebound WNY neighbors with nutritious meals and the caring and friendship of the volunteers who deliver them."

The CEO of Meals on Wheels, Tara Ellis, elaborated on what Compu-Mail's donation means to the organization: "We're very grateful to Compu-Mail for their generous donation, and to Shandra for nominating us. Given the tremendous need in our community and the decline in government funding, corporate donations like this one play an increasingly important role in making sure that we can provide food, friendship and independence to 3,600 homebound seniors and disabled individuals each year, while providing peace of mind to their families."

The $1,000 donation to Meals on Wheels of WNY was the final of three donations given as part of Compu-Mail's 2013 "Charity Connection" program. Two donations of $500 each were previously granted to the Western and Central New York Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and The BISON Children Scholarship Fund.
