"What did people read at home long ago?" will be discussed when the Historical Society of North German Settlements in WNY meets at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 16, in the Wheatfield Community Center.

People may bring samples of old books, pamphlets, and magazines that were enjoyed by themselves or by their parents.

"Well-worn books and other paper goods show that they had been well-loved and well-used," according to former society secretary Wilma Lass.

This meeting and one in February have been scheduled for afternoon hours, because of the possibility of bad driving at night. The meetings are open to the public. For more information, call 716-795-2890.
