Robert P. Corcoran, age 82, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., passed away on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, in Columbia after a brief illness.
He was born July 22, 1931, in Scranton, Pa., the son of the late William and Helen (Ruane) Corcoran. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; son, Paul Corcoran (Janet); daughter, Judith Konicki, (Joseph); sons, Brian Corcoran and Kevin Corcoran (Heather); five grandchildren, William, David, Kathleen, Jennifer and Elizabeth; and sisters, Ann Marie Corcoran and Margaret Scicchitano.
Bob was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Niagara University and obtained a Masters of Social Work from Fordham University. He was very active in the Niagara Falls community: an avid Niagara University alumnus and basketball fan serving as president of the Alumni Association, a fourth-degree Knight of Columbus, and past president of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was dedicated to his sons' Boy Scout troop and served as Scoutmaster for almost 15 years. A devout Catholic, Bob was a Eucharistic minister at St. Augustine Church, Chester, Va. and Our Lady Star of the Sea, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, Columbia, is assisting the family.
