The public-access fishing pier at the base of the New York Power Authority's Robert Moses Niagara Power Plant, the main generating facility at the Niagara Hydroelectric Power Plant, will close for the winter season Monday, Dec. 9. Weather permitting, it will still be open this weekend, Dec. 7-8.

The public fishing pier near the Upper Mountain Fire Co. at the Lewiston Reservoir will also close for the season December 9 and will reopen once ice conditions clear in the spring.

The reopening of the fishing pier at the Robert Moses Niagara plant site will be impacted by ongoing roadwork. When completed late next year, the road renovations will provide a redesigned, paved and safer access road for vehicles and pedestrians.

NYPA is also constructing a riverside, pedestrian walkway along the road from the upper to the lower parking lots, with a guide rail separating vehicles from pedestrians.

Status updates on the reopening of the fishing piers are available by calling 716-796-0135.
