Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother
Grace M. (Tedesco) Calvano, 100, passed away peacefully on Saturday Nov. 2, 2013, at Our Lady of Peace in Lewiston, on All Souls Day surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Benedetta (Favatta) Tedesco. Grace was a resident of Niagara Falls until she and her husband moved to Grand Island 25 years ago.
Mrs. Calvano was predeceased by her husband, John Calvano, in 1991. She is survived by her daughter Virginia and her husband Savino Nanula of Grand Island; two grandchildren, Dr. James John (Elizabeth) Mezhir of Coralville, Iowa, and John Joseph (Jennifer) Mezhir of Grand Island; five great-grandchildren, Malinee Grace Mezhir, Anjali Mary Mezhir, Kate Sophia Mezhir, Jack Michael Mezhir and Max Joseph Mezhir; her niece Jeanette (late Carl) Gemmati; nephews, Tom (late Gloria) Etopio, and Philip (Cheryl) Valore; her beloved friend Amy Lou Taylor, as well as several other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by five brothers and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Nov. 6 at St. Stephen R.C. Church with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery Niagara Falls.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Grace's memory may be made to St. Stephen R.C. Church, 2100 Baseline Road, Grand Island, NY 14072.
