On Monday, Nov. 11, the Town of Niagara Lions and Lioness clubs will host their annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. at Veterans Heights Park, located at the intersection of Lawson and Bellreng drives in the Town of Niagara.
The ceremony will include the presentation of a memorial wreath by the Lions and Lioness clubs, the raising of the flag by Brownie Troop 70008, speakers, and music. The color guard will be provided by the Niagara Falls Corps of Cadets (pictured at a past ceremony). Pastor Ron Maines of the Forestview Church of God will offer opening and closing prayers. Trumpet player John Janese, a Niagara-Wheatfield High School student, will perform taps and "The Star-Spangled Banner".
Speakers will be Vince Canosa, retired active guard reserve, 3rd Brigade, 42nd Infantry Division; Lion Angelo Onevelo, chairperson; and Lion Gary Strenkoski, president of the Town of Niagara Business and Professional Association.
Also, the Brownies from Troop 70008 will present all veterans with an American flag lapel pin in appreciation of their military service, Following the ceremony the Lioness will serve warm beverages and pastries at the St. Vincent DePaul Parish Center, 2748 Military Road, Town of Niagara.
