On Friday, family, friends and first responders paid tribute to Russell M. Pecoraro, who passed away on Sept. 17. An elaborate procession - complete with helicopter escort - took place across Whitehaven Road.
Pecoraro, formerly of Grand Island, was a retired chief with the Erie County Sheriff's Office, and a retired chief of police with the Princess Anne Police Department in Princess Anne, Md.
Kaiser Funeral Home handled funeral arrangements.
