Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-C-I-Lewiston, joined Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy and other state lawmakers Thursday to announce the newest investment of the Buffalo Billion: Empire Visual Effects, a film production company that specializes in post-production, special effects and animation.
Empire Visual Effects will partner with Daemen College's International Center for Excellence in Animation to train the school's film students and give them opportunities to work for the company. The company is expected to create 150 new high-tech jobs that will keep recent college graduates in the film industry from moving out of state and enable them to pursue their careers in Western New York.
"I am happy to join Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy to announce the partnership of New York State, Empire Visual Effects and higher education," Ceretto said. "Our local film students will now be able to transition from college into careers with Empire Visual Effects. This is great news for film students in the Niagara Falls area and their families. Continued investment in Western New York such as this will create more jobs and turn our economy around. I am looking forward to seeing what is coming next."
