Students from the Grand Island Dance Center entertained at Artpark's Fairy House Festival earlier this month.
The Grand Island Dance Center entertained the crowds at Artpark last Sunday for the Fairy House Festival. The dancers dressed in their recital costumes and, wearing fairy makeup performed ballet numbers in a grassy area in the middle of the festival. When the dancers were finished, the audience was asked to come and dance with the performers. Led by the director and helped by all of the GI Dance performers, the audience got a little taste of what a ballet class is like.
"It is so important to their dance education to take advantage of every performance opportunity, no matter how big or small," said Rachel Novelli, the studio director. "This was a great chance for them to perform and then interact directly with their audience. I think every child that was watching came up to dance with us. This was great!"
Next up for the GI Dance Center students will be rehearsals for the big Fourth of July Parade, and then Summer Dance Day Camp or Summer Dance Intensive.
