Congressman Chris Collins, NY-27, presented Jonathan Gidley of Lockport with the Congressional Award Gold Medal this week in Washington D.C.

"I am incredibly proud of Jonathan, and am honored that I was able to present him with the Congressional Award Gold Medal," Collins said. "Earning this award requires a significant commitment, and Jonathan's dedication to achieving his goal speaks to the strength of his character."

To receive the award, Gidley had to spend two or more years completing at least 400 hours of community service, 200 hours of both personal development and physical fitness activities, and complete a four-night expedition or exploration trip.

The Congressional Award is Congress' award for young Americans. It is non-partisan, voluntary, and non-competitive. The program is open to all 14-to-23-year-olds.
