A special high tea was held at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church last Sunday to help defray medical costs for Bergholz resident Judi Jagow, who has cancer.
The sold-out affair featured a selection of teas, scones with clotted cream, preserves and lemon curd; three kinds of tea sandwiches, including the traditional cucumber; desserts; plus each guest received a teapot-shaped cookie favor to take home. All were created and served by event chairman Mary Lou Milroy and her crew of about 20 volunteers.
Guests, young and old, were charmed by the large variety of teapots, cups, saucers and dessert plates used for the event, and had fun nibbling, chatting with friends and deciding whether to extend their pinkies while sipping tea for a good cause.
In the summer of 2012, Judi Jagow underwent a single mastectomy for breast cancer and, several months later, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and is undergoing chemotherapy and spinal infusions.
