Ceretto given 'A' rating, endorsement from National Rifle Association

Assemblyman John D. Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, announced he was given an "A" rating and endorsement by the National Rifle Association-Political Victory Fund for the 2012 New York General Election.

"I am honored to receive the endorsement of the NRA," Ceretto said. "Second Amendment rights are cherished in Western New York and I have stood up for them in Albany. I pledge to continue to support Second Amendment freedoms."

A letter from the NRA-ILA State and Local Affairs New York State Liaison Darin Goens read, "This 'A' rating and endorsement is a reflection of your strong record of support on Second Amendment issues while serving in the New York General Assembly. ... Our members will interpret your 'A' rating and endorsement as a sign of your commitment to remaining a pro-gun and pro-hunting candidate who is an advocate for the right to keep and bear arms."

The newly formed 145th Assembly District is made up of the towns of Cambria, Lewiston, Niagara and Wheatfield; the City of Niagara Falls; and a portion of the City of North Tonawanda in Niagara County as well as the Town of Grand Island in Erie County.

In addition to the endorsement of the NRA, Ceretto was endorsed by the Republican, Independence and Conservative parties; State Sen. George Maziarz; Niagara County Legislature Chairman Bill Ross; North Tonawanda Mayor Robert Ortt; Grand Island Supervisor Mary Cooke; New York State United Teachers; Laborers Local 91; New York State Professional Fire Fighters Association; and Unshackle Upstate.
