Call for artwork for NACC Artists & Friends Art Exhibition

The Niagara Arts and Cultural Center has announced the annual NACC Artists & Friends Art Exhibition in its Main Gallery, 1201 Pine Ave. The opening reception for the exhibition will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 17. It will be preceded by Open Studios & Artist Market from 3 to 6 pm. In addition, local artist William Carpenter will be featured in a solo exhibit in the Garden Gallery.

This year's exhibition does not have a particular theme; therefore, it is open to all artistic interpretations of all mediums and genres. Anyone interested in a table-top hallway display during the Open Studios & Artist Market should contact Bob Drozdowski at 716-282-7530 or [email protected] for more information. The judge for the exhibition will be Sandra Firmin, curator at the University at Buffalo Art Galleries.

General Information for Participants

  • Please submit only work that is for sale. We will not accept "Price on Request" or "Not for Sale" in your price designations.

  • Please price your artwork to include a 25 percent commission for the NACC in your sell price.

  • Prizes (first - $300, second - $200, third - $100, fourth - $50) will be awarded for best in show at the opening reception.

Entry Guidelines & Eligibility for Gallery Exhibit

  • This exhibition is open to all artists. All artwork must be original and made by the artist.

  • The installers are not responsible for preparing work for installation.

  • Two-dimensional works must be framed and wired for installation.

  • Three-dimensional works must have a clean, non-abrasive base or be mounted on a pedestal.

  • Complete and return the attached "I Intend to Exhibit" form with your entry fee to the NACC main office. Click here to DOWNLOAD the form (PDF).

  • The entry fee of $30 is for the first two pieces and additional pieces may be entered for $10 each (maximum four)

  • All mediums of artwork will be accepted, including but not limited to oil painting, mixed media, photography and sculpture.

  • This call for artists is open to the public and there is limited exhibit space, so please reply ASAP.

  • The deadline for entry into the exhibition and/or artist market is Monday, Nov. 12, at 5 p.m.

Drop-Off /Pick-Up Procedures

  • Attach a label to the back or underside of each piece with the artist name, title, medium, dimensions and price.

  • Please complete the sheet of identifying information per the attached form as a copy for the gallery curator.

  • Drop off work during NACC hours any day from Saturday, Nov. 3, until Monday, Nov. 12.

  • Pick up work during NACC hours on any day from Monday, Jan. 7, until Monday, Jan. 14, 2013

Artist Market & Open House Component

  • Tables are available for $25 per table, however, if you exhibit four pieces in the gallery there is no charge for the table.

  • If you are a NACC artist and have your studio open for the open house, there will be a discounted exhibit fee for four pieces.

  • The open house and artists market will be from 3 to 6 p.m., and the artist gallery reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

The gallery reserves the right to exclude any artwork that it feels is unacceptable to the general public or does not fit with the presentation of the exhibition. The NACC hours for artwork drop off and pick up will be Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. If you would like to drop off or pick up artwork at any other time, contact Bob Drozdowski at the NACC at 716-282-7530 to make an appointment that is more convenient.

The NACC is not responsible for any artwork left at the facility after Jan. 14, 2013.
