Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, is teaming up with the Western New York Regional Economic Development Council to announce new training workshops aimed at local job creators. The workshops are intended to help business owners apply for state funding available through the Regional Economic Development Councils. The latest round of economic development funding provides $750 million statewide to stimulate job creation and growth.

"Thanks to the impressive plan offered by our region's Economic Development Council, Western New York did extraordinarily well in the first round of Regional Economic Development funding awards," Ceretto said. "I am encouraging local businesses to participate in the upcoming workshops in order to help ensure a similar outcome for round two."

To maximize participation in the process and ensure high-quality applications from project applicants, the WNYREDC will host three training workshops to explain the programs and eligibility standards as well as recent improvements to the Consolidated Funding Application process.

The schedule for CFA Workshops in Western New York includes:

•Tuesday, May 15, at Buffalo State College, Bulgar Hall Communications Center, 1300 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo (from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.).

•Thursday, June 7, at the Niagara Falls Conference Center, 101 Old Falls St., Niagara Falls (8:30 to 11:30 a.m.)

•Thursday, June 7, at the Jamestown Community College, Katherine Carnahan Training and Conference Center, 525 Falconer St., Jamestown (2 until 5 p.m.)

The training workshops are free and open to economic development officials, municipalities, nonprofits and businesses. Attendees are asked to pre-register at: http://regionalcouncils.ny.gov/content/western-new-york.
