It was an evening of saying thanks to members for their service to the community as Lewiston No. 1 Volunteer Fire Co. held its annual induction/recognition banquet last Saturday evening at the Days Inn in Niagara Falls.

Incorporated in 1916, Lewiston No. 1 is observing its 96th year of service in the community this year. And at last week's banquet, among the usual swearing-ins of fire company officers, there was also tribute paid to a number of long-timers at Lewiston No. 1.

Topping the list is member Jim Stewart who was recognized with 60 years of service with the company. Right behind him is member Jim Franey with 50 years; Roger Hutton with 40 years; Bill Hartman with 35 years; Brian Christman with 30 years; Brian Beebe with 25 years; and Jason Naples and Nicole Sequin, five years each. All totaled, it reflects an impressive 250 years of commitment by these individuals to Lewiston No. 1 and to village residents.
