Join us as the Western New York Affiliate of the Susan G Komen for the Cure acknowledges breast cancer survivors at the 11th annual Survivor Luncheon held at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center on May 12. The affiliate is seeking nominations for the Hope, Faith, and Love awards congratulating three individuals who have displayed exceptional involvement to the eradication of breast cancer.

The Hope Award is given to a breast health or breast cancer professional who works toward improving the lives of breast cancer survivors or conducts research to find the cures.

The Faith Award is given to a breast cancer survivor who advocates in the community for support, screening or treatment, and works to empower all women.

The Love Award is given to a volunteer who works tirelessly to enhance our "promise" and inspires others to do the same.

One winner will be selected in each category, and nominees must live and/or work in one of the eight counties of Western New York (Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming and Allegany).

Visit the Komen WNY website at www.komenwny.org to download an award nomination form.

All nomination forms must be postmarked on or before April 9 in order to be considered.

About Susan G. Komen for the Cure

Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982 that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. The Western New York affiliate is working to improve the lives of those affected by breast cancer in the local community. Through events such as the Komen WNY Race for the Cure, the local affiliate has invested $3.5 million in breast health and breast cancer awareness projects in the eight counties of Western New York. Up to 75 percent of net proceeds generated by the affiliate stay in the area. The remaining income goes to the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure Grants Program to fund research.
