Congresswoman Kathy Hochul today announced a grant of $2,206,208 by the Department of Health and Human Services for the Niagara County Head Start Inc.

"For years, the Head Start program has provided critical assistance to low-income families who could not afford to provide their children with the education they deserve," Hochul said. "This funding will help provide those children with a foundation for a strong education and the services they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom."

Operated by the Department of Health and Human Services, Head Start is a leader in early childhood development and education, and provides grants to public and private non-profits, as well as for-profit agencies. Head Start focuses on helping preschoolers develop early reading and math skills and promotes school readiness through educational, health, and other services to children and families.
