Lewiston Police seek driver in fatality

Lewiston police are continuing their search for the driver of a vehicle that fatally a pedestrian on Mount Hope Road Wednesday at 10 p.m.

LPD reported that resident Loren Jacobs, 59, of 2223 Mount Hope Road, was struck while he was out for an evening walk on Wednesday. Jacobs was walking on the north side of the road near his home and was hit. The driver failed to stop and the vehicle was last seen heading westbound on Mount Hope Road toward Garlow Road.

Lewiston police are uncertain as to the make and/or model of the vehicle. The vehicle was described as being a white or silver, possibly an older type sedan with front-end damage.

Police said Jacobs was taken initially to Lewiston No. 2 Volunteer Fire Co. on Saunders Settlement Road. He was then transported via MercyFlight to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo where he later died.

Lewiston Police are requesting anyone having information about the fatality accident to call the department at 754-8477.
