Now comes the hard part. Following an active period of successful operation, the Town of Lewiston Recreation Department's Family Ice Rink complex began its takedown process this past week at Academy Park.

In the photos, Town Recreation Director Mike Dashineau assists Town of Lewiston Parks Department workers in the dismantling of the warming house, as the thawing of the ice continues at the portable rink.

Supervisor Steve Reiter pointed out this week the town embarked on an active, but limited operations schedule last fall for the rink, with the intent of gauging its operations, the rink's popularity with residents and its feasibility as the town plans for its future.

Meanwhile Dashineau reports the Recreation Department's online survey for residents and users interested in commenting on the rink's operation continues. Visit the youth/recreation sports site at www.LewPortSports.com to participate. (photos by Terry Duffy)
