Boxing Day shopping today; 'Two-for-Tuesday' for ice skating at Blue Cross/Blue Shield Ice Rink; extended hours on New Year's Eve

The Niagara Holiday Market begins its final week of operation today as the region's newest holiday destination, with a great strolling street for after-Christmas shopping, dining, skating and family fun.

"It is a perfect time to come down and enjoy the best of the market all week," said Mark Rivers, the event organizer. "With moms and dads off from work and kids off from school, come to the Falls for a lasting taste of the season. We've got shopping, savoring, strolling and skating through Sunday."

On Tuesday, two paying patrons at the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Ice Rink can skate for the price of one in a "Two-for-Tuesday" skating special promotion. Adults pay $6 and children pay $4 for skating (including a free pair of rental skates).

About the Niagara Holiday Market

Debuting in November, the Niagara Holiday Market is one of the largest European-style holiday markets and festivals in the U.S. Operating from "Black Friday" (day after Thanksgiving) through New Year's Day, the market features retail shopping, live entertainment, community events, ice skating and other winter activities with an international flavor. Events take place along Old Falls Street in downtown Niagara Falls, adjacent to one of the wonders of the world.

The market is spearheaded by Brix and Company, in a public-private partnership with USA Niagara (a state of New York economic development agency), the City of Niagara Falls and a host of corporate marketing partners.
