Deputy Village of Lewiston Highway Superintendent Terry Brolinski gave Mayor Terry Collesano a tour Friday of the municipality's new garbage truck. The almost $180,000 2011 Mack truck is set to make its debut today.
Brolinski said the new vehicle is a vast improvement over the village's former garbage truck, which was "just old and rotted," he said, and required almost weekly repairs (tires, body work, electrical, hydraulics, etc.). "The maintenance factor just dropped 100 percent."
While the truck was purchased through the DPW's annual budget, Collesano said the village is open to finding a corporate sponsor to help offset some of the cost. Those interested can call the Village Hall at 754-8271.
