Erie County Sheriff's Office Report for Sept. 23, 2011

The Erie County Sheriff's Office reports its officers responded to 203 calls from Sept. 10 to 16. Below is a sampling of only those incidents the ECSO reported to the Island Dispatch.

Saturday, Sept. 10

•Grand Island Boulevard, larceny - Patrol received a complaint from the manager at a restaurant of a larceny by an employee. Patrol's investigation led to the arrest of a 32-year-old man from North Tonawanda, for petit larceny. The man was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

•Staley Road, all-terrain vehicle operation - A complainant stated that ATVs were racing around the streets in the area. Patrol checked and was unable to locate the ATVs.

Sunday, Sept. 11

•Industrial Drive, larceny - A complainant stated that she witnessed a male subject stealing items from a business. Patrol's investigation led to the arrest of a 47-year-old man from Amherst. The man is charged with petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree and trespass. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

Monday, Sept. 12

•Baseline Road, drunk driving - Following a complaint of a suspicious vehicle, an investigation by Town of Grand Island Police and Erie County Sheriff's Office deputies led to the arrest of 50-year-old man for driving while intoxicated. The man faces a felony count of DWI under New York state Leandra's Law due to having a child in the vehicle at the time. The man recorded a .18 of 1 percent blood-alcohol content after submitting to a chemical analysis of his breath. He was released on traffic tickets returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

Tuesday, Sept. 13

•West Park, fireworks use - A complainant stated that he heard what sounded like a gunshot in the area of West Park. Patrol was unable to locate the source of the noise, but after talking with neighbors it was deemed to be a firework.

•Whitehaven Road, criminal mischief - A complainant stated that sometime during the night someone damaged the bathrooms located on a golf course. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Wednesday, Sept. 14

•Baseline Road, larceny - Patrol's investigation of a larceny led to the arrest of a juvenile offender for petit larceny, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree after the subject stole a shopping cart from a supermarket that contained a case of beer while in the presence of a minor. The juvenile offender was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

Thursday, Sept. 15

•Staley Road, Drunk Driving - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a 32-year-old man from Grand Island for driving while intoxicated and other vehicle and traffic violations. The man recorded a .17 of 1 percent blood-alcohol content reading after submitting to a chemical analysis of his breath. He was released on traffic tickets returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

Friday, Sept. 16

•Alvin Road, larceny - A complainant at an automobile dealership stated that sometime during the night unknown persons stole some parts from vehicles. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Bedell Road, larceny - A complainant stated that sometime in recent days, someone stole various tools from his business. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
