A community service commemorating the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, which took more than 3,000 lives, will take place at Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1, on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 8:30 a.m. This service will honor all first responders who willingly gave their time and lives so that others might live.

The Rt. Rev. R. William Franklin, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Western New York, will lead the service. A short procession from the firehall to St. Paul's Episcopal Church (Fourth and Ridge streets) will follow the service. There, a memorial wreath will be placed honoring all who perished as a result of these attacks.

The firehall is located on North Sixth Street, in the Village of Lewiston. All those interested in attending should gather at the firehall by 8:20 a.m. A simple reception will follow the service at St. Paul's Church.
