NIMAC hosts Washington lobbying effort

The Niagara Military Affairs Council this month hosted a group of local officials on a trip to Washington, D.C., to encourage efforts to strengthen the Niagara Air Reserve Station. Shown from left are County Legislator David Godfrey, Legislature Chairman Bill Ross, Town of Wheatfield Supervisor Bob Cliffe, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, NIMAC Vice Chairman John Cooper, NIMAC Chairman Merrell Lane, NFTA Executive Director Kim Minkel and Dr. James Farkas from Assemblyman John Ceretto's office. They were met in D.C. by NIMAC's Washington consultant, Steve Hyjek, who arranged meetings with Congressional and Pentagon leadership. Among items discussed was the possibility of a Customs and Border Patrol facility at the base.
