Erie County Sheriff's Department Report for July 29, 2011

The Erie County Sheriff's Office reports its officers responded to 437 calls from July 8 to 22. Below is a sampling of only those incidents the ECSO reported to the Island Dispatch.

Friday, July 8

•Jenell Drive, larceny - A complainant stated that, sometime during the night, an unknown person or persons took two bicycles that were unsecured and located on the side of the garage. An investigation is ongoing.

•Whitehaven Road, narcotics arrest- A complainant stated that a subject at the a gas station/convenience store parking lot was possibly "on drugs." Patrol located the subject, a 21-year-old man from Grand Island, who upon further investigation was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree. The man was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

Saturday, July 9

•Amberwood Drive, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that while she was riding her bike, an unknown black male driving a black Honda Civic pulled up alongside of her and seemed to be following her. When the complainant called 911, the unknown male drove off. Patrol was unable to locate the subject.

•Grand Island Boulevard, larceny - A complainant stated that while she was visiting an amusement park her locked vehicle was broken into. Various personal items were stolen. An investigation is ongoing.

Sunday, July 10

•East River Road, larceny - A complainant stated that at an unknown time someone stole fishing gear off of his boat. An investigation is ongoing.

Monday, July 11

•Grand Island Boulevard, narcotics arrest - Following a traffic stop, patrol's investigation led to the arrest of a 22-year-old man from West Seneca for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree. The man was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

•East River Road, larceny - A complainant stated that at an unknown time someone stole some liquor from a boat while it was docked. An investigation is ongoing.

•Grand Island Boulevard, larceny - A complainant stated that while she was at an amusement park her locked vehicle was broken into. Various personal items were stolen. An investigation is ongoing.

Tuesday, July 12

•Buckhorn State Park, marijuana possession - Following patrol's investigation of a suspicious person in Buckhorn State Park, a 19-year-old juvenile offender was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana. The offender was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

Wednesday, July 13

•Towerwood Road, residential burglary - A complainant stated that sometime during the night, an unknown person or persons entered his residence and stole various electronic items. An investigation is ongoing.

Saturday, July 16

•Whitehaven Road, shots fired - A complainant stated that he heard shots coming from the Big Six Marina. Patrol checked the area. The call was determined to be unfounded.

Sunday, July 17

•Grand Island Boulevard, larceny - A complainant stated that while she was working at an amusement park someone stole her phone from a locker room inside the park. An investigation is ongoing.

Monday, July 18

•Bedell Road, warrant served - Patrol served a valid arrest warrant out of the North Tonawanda Police Department for a 49-year-old woman. The subject was turned over to authorities in North Tonawanda.

Tuesday, July 19

•Love Road, suspicious person or persons - A complainant stated three subjects were "hanging out" during the late night hours at a church on Love Road. When patrol approached the subjects, they fled on foot. A brief foot chase ensued, and all subjects were taken into custody. All three subjects (juvenile offenders) were charged with obstruction in the second degree and issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

•Grand Island Boulevard, fight - Patrol was called to a fast food restaurant for a possible fight in progress. Patrol located subjects involved and dispersed all parties.
