Stop by the Lewiston Museum in the heart of the village and check out the new Museum Store at 469 Plain St. It's open Wednesdays through Sundays, from 1 until 5 p.m.

Pam Hauth and James Harasimowicz worked months on this project and their hard work has paid off, say Historical Association of Lewiston members. You'll discover the store is inviting, charming and a new hidden gem -- and don't forget to look up and appreciate the intricate ceiling details.

HAL notes it will take a while to get the store fully stocked, but guests can get their Lewiston staples today -- best-selling Lewiston books, 1812 flags, and special Lewiston stationery for important notes. Also available: souvenir items such as pins, to give to all of your out-of-town loved ones who are still yearning for keepsakes from their old hometown.

Meanwhile, the museum features a new Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 exhibit featuring fascinating photographs such as this image of one of the squad's earliest pieces of equipment: http://www.historiclewiston.org/gallery/pages/lewiston_002.html.
